About us - Patch Design Studio

patch design studio is a young, multi-disciplinary design studio started by Ipsit Patel and Rika Chaudhry, in February 2012. We believe that built environments in diverse spheres contribute in various ways to individuals and businesses. We realise every client and program is different and hence each project brings with it, its own unique criteria.

As a team, we believe in providing design solutions that work at every scale, creating cohesion between the overall contexts to the smallest details. Through our work processes we try and create spaces that while being functional, transcend their functionality. With each project we try to push the notional boundaries of design and function, through material experimentation and newer generative ideas, which are distinctive to each project.

 We define built environments in a very wide manner. Our scope of work thus ranges from entertainment venues, to restaurants and retail outlets, from exhibition spaces to temporary installations, from residential, commercial and institutional interiors to architectural and urban environments.Ipsit Patel and Rika Chaudhry, completed their Graduate studies from Faculty of Architecture, CEPT, Ahmedabad.

IPSIT PATEL

Ipsit has worked with a range of design firms, Gerard da Cunha in Goa being his mentor while he was training in college. Later he worked with the Busride Design Studio in Mumbai, where he worked as a senior architect and played a key role in shaping the studio. His experience at Ireko Design in Mauritius, gave him an opportunity to work on large scale developments abroad.

RIKA CHAUDHRY

Rika went on to complete her masters in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University, New York. She has worked with the Architect Hafeez Contractor, Architect Anupam De and _Opolis Architects in Mumbai. She also worked with Ralph Benziger, as an exchange student in Zurich. Rika firmly believes that academia plays an important role in everyday practice and vice versa. Besides designing, documentary filmmaking, travelling and origami are her other keen interests.

SHRUTI GAONKAR

Shruti completed her B.Arch degree from Mumbai University and went on to complete her Masters degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University, New York city. She has varied professional experience from working at DP Architects in Singapore, Virtuous Retail in Bangalore, Architect Hafeez Contractor in Mumbai and with S+PS Architects based in Mumbai. She values and nurtures creative design and art practices in her everyday life, with painting, illustrating, writing and making wall murals.
